New Year's Resolution #2: Learn to Quilt

That's probably more of a goal than a resolution since resolutions usually involve giving up or adopting a behavior, not a new skill, but I digress.

I learned to use a sewing machine last winter but still get nervous, sweaty palms when I think about the complicated process that is quilting, and how much stuff you have to buy to make it happen. Rotary cutter, basting pins, rotary cutting board, plastic for cutting out pattern forms....

But this winter I really do mean to learn to quilt so that I can make the wedding wheel quilt as a wedding present to the MM and me. Beneath it we'll sleep for the rest of our days. Or until unruly dogs who jump on the bed make it dingy beyond repair.

Isn't it beautiful?!? And our wedding colors, orange and green, even if these shades are a little more on the sherbert side than ours. It just might get done if I cheat and send the pieced topper off to be basted and finished by some more professional person. Much as I appreciate the handmade, I also don't want to look at a quilt with bunched up batting and uneven edges for the next several decades!

Wouldn't it be fun to do a quilting group too? I haven't the faintest clue how to quilt, but I love the idea of it!

Quilting is way beyond me - best of luck with the wedding wheel quilt, what a lovely idea.
