Locust Grove Farm

Finally, a few photos of the new farm! The porch roof could use a wash, but I think those 2 oaks in the front yard would have it dirty again by fall.
Isabel is very excited about this new place and the fact that she can swim in a river every day once more. We've missed that since leaving Kelly, WY and the Gros Ventre. The South Fork of the Rivanna isn't quite as cool and fast flowing, but it's lovely on a hot afternoon. We've already spotted a bald eagle and a fox down there.
Locust Grove faces northwest toward the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah National Park, although we can't see the mountains from our house. The family who owns this farm bought it from Patrick Henry's father in the mid 18th century and the whole place has a feeling of being lived on and looked after. Everything from big old trees and the farm house to pre-gasoline era fam equipment rusting out in the pasture!
Even though I don't have a personal photo, I saw my first Baltimore Oriole on the farm this week! They really are bright orange...

Whaddup Annie bo Bannie - Love your new digs. I am sub-ing in the middle school again today at St. Cat's. I'm actually sub-ing Spanish but it's in Magistra Spencer's old room! Ha! Oppidum! I got your email, I'm not engaged yet. I want to come see your new place and take some photos of it or something. I love rusting farm equips!
