With four days off, I wanted to do a quick getaway with my boys this past weekend. We left first think Sunday morning and drove up to Glacier NP and stopped for a picnic lunch beside Flathead Lake. Ford tasted his first (raw) apple and loved it in a major way:
Avalanche Canyon in Glacier is a really beautiful spot and an easy walk, so it was also a zoo/super highway on a pretty fall afternoon. In hindsight, making an extra stop on our way out of town to buy bear spray was overkill. No bears for miles around!
There was a smouldering wildfire in the cirque when we arrived!
Uncooperative subject
Much happier doing our thing
We spent the night in Whitefish, which I'm sure has many nigh spots, watering holes and shopping opportunities, but I have never experienced them. Travel with toddlers involves settling in to the hotel room around 7:30 PM. Pescado Blanco was a hit for all age groups, though.
No photos because I was too busy eating it, but my cinnamon raisin bread french toast with sliced banana, yogurt and granola for breakfast the next day at Buffalo Cafe was crazy good. Before we all piled back in the car to drive home, we stopped in a little city park beside the river and made friends with some water fowl. Ford even said "duh" when they approached, which means "duck." Clearly.
