Y'all know I love a chop and dump recipe. But last night I sent the MM and myself down the path to an anti-chop and dump soup by only reading the ingredient list and not the directions! The recipe for this sausage and lentil soup is here on the Food52 blog, and it's all about layering ingredients and building flavor (to speak in cookbook foodie-ese). Nothing too complicated, just lots of ingredients and some very specific steps on when to add them. Red wine and 3 T of ketchup, anyone? The Italian parsely and fresh spinach added at the end were yummy too.
So I'd definitely recommend this one with the caveat that you read through the recipe a few times and start cooking early so you don't eat at 9 P.M. like we did last night.
