Ford: 6 Weeks Old

Phew. Running a few days behind on this post, I am.  We returned from Lander, Wyoming on Monday evening and have been working on getting back to a regular schedule, unpacking, etc. since then.  I also tried to start transitioning Ford to sleeping anywhere other than in the Baby Bjorn or my arms today.  Which was rough.  The child does not like to be put down to sleep and howled for quite awhile in between attempts to soothe him.  He finally conked out from sheer exhaustion, but of course that was after I broke down and put him back in the Bjorn after nursing him.  Recommendations? I'm not even trying to get him to sleep through the night at this point....just go to sleep on his own at all!
Ford has been increasingly smiley, giggly and interactive this past week--such a joy to play with when he's awake and happy.  And we almost have that baby eczema under control! Photos and stories from our trip still to come...

Sleep can be so difficult! Mine didn't like the crib for a long time, but they did seem to like smaller, more snuggly places. We had a little vibrating basinet that worked for naps. Swings can work too. Also, the car seat. Delia slept in the car seat by our bed at night for a long time. She seemed to like that it was snuggly, small, and had a incline to it. Of course, she fell asleep in my arms first, then I would carefully put her in. I hope this helps!!

Have you tried swaddling? We used the Miracle Blanket on both of our babies and it worked wonders. I think it just helped them settle down enough to sleep, plus it's snuggly so it feels secure like being in someone's arms. AND- I know the "rule" is to have nothing in their cribs, but both of mine also liked having a lovey to rub their faces on. He'll figure it out soon! Good luck with the eczema, too! My youngest had that at this age, too, and has outgrown it already.
