That's what our original fir floors said today. And enough requests for renovation updates have rolled in, so I'm going back on my resolution to hold out until the floors are finished and I'm giving you a little sneak peak of mid-way through.
Front bedroom before (previous owner's things):
And tonight:
Floors sanded, ready for their finish tomorrow. That's Benjamin Moore's Jamestown Blue on the walls. It'll be even better without light from a bare CFL in the ceiling fixture.
Living room before (again, NOT our furniture):
And tonight:
Not quite as impressive since we have a lot of trim work still to do. Buying, priming, painting and installing the baseboards this weekend is going to be a major chore. We went with Edgecomb Gray in this room.
Our new bedroom before:
And tonight:
It's not immediately obvious, but the walls had a lot of texture to them and we just thought it looked gross--like it was collecting dust and grime. So our wonderful plaster guy scraped the texture off the ceiling and "skimmed" the walls with a couple coats of plaster. Voila! Nearly smooth walls. I swear it makes the room feel bigger. Benjamin Moore Gray Owl, which will definitely look better once the floors are finished and I bring in some turquoise and orange accents.
I ordered new linen for our headboard too, went with turquoise blue (as opposed to blue turquoise, which really was another option):
I am still stuffy headed and recovering and the MM is over there working hard by himself. But that's what I did for a whole weekend and half of another one....so I don't feel too bad : )

I love your "before" and "after" pictures, and the clarification that this is not your furniture. When I saw the first picture, I was thinking, "that's funny, I'm surprised Ann would arrange her bookshelves like that..." But then I kept reading! Good luck with the rest of the work around the house, it's going to look GREAT!
The house looks great! Keep the pictures coming!
Thanks, friends! I checked out the first coat of finish on the floors last night and it looks awesome.
