Bon Weekend: Bird Edition

I became a confirmed bird nerd while I was living in Jackson Hole, and I still geek out and grab my Sibley's Guide to Birds whenever I see a new bird in order to add it to my "list." Yesterday evening while we were walking the dogs up in Crazy Canyon, the MM and I had a moment of extreme bird nerdiness when a Northern Goshawk flew low right in front of us and alighted in a tree not 20 ft from where we were standing. Northern Goshawk's are forest-dwellers, a small little family of hawks called accipiters. At a hefty 2.5 lbs, the Goshawk is the biggest of them, has red eyes, and I once saw one drown and eat a duck.  But that's another story.
