New Arrivals

March 10th

It's calving time on the farm. I've come home each evening this week to see new little ones tottering around beside their mamas. They only spend a day in the birthing pasture, then it's out into the big, wide world with a newly tagged ear.

I wish I could have caught it on video, but I stepped outside Monday evening and surprised a fox who was sitting in our front yard watching the cows. It trotted away, but then I noticed the cows running across the pasture, mooing loudly. They were charging another fox who was ambitiously trying to have calf for dinner. I know coyotes can pull this off, but I don't think the foxes stood a chance!
