It's too early to put out potted plants in Missoula, but I have some inspiration after seeing these four perched around my parents' back deck in Virginia. The pots in various shades of glazed blue pull together the arrangements. The pumice stone planter with the succulents sits off on its own, but I love it too. These all have a mix of annuals and perennials and plants that will continue to fill in at different heights--some will be long and trailing, others will fill out the mid-section, while a tall, structural plant caps it off.
The sheer green-ness of it all tugs at my heart this time of year when it's still early spring in Montana, but the Garden City will look like its summer self soon enough!
