I stay busy cooking and whipping up things like picnic napkins for birthday presents. Witnesseth:

And I made a big pot of chicken, rice and vegetable soup with a little inspiration from Julia's Kitchen Wisdom. I started out with fresh onion, leeks, celery and carrots from the farmer's market to make a mirepoix, which I sauteed in butter instead of the usual olive oil (for Julia, you know).
Once those flavors bloomed, I added about 8 cups of chicken stock, brought it all to a boil and then tossed in some cubed raw chicken and a cubed Yukon Gold potato and let that simmer for about 10 minutes. Then I added 1/2 cup of wild rice, let it simmer about 20 minutes more and just added a little salt and pepper.

looks... delicious... I can smell it now! I have a cold so I can imagine this would totally hit the spot. Not to invite myself over, or anything... :)
