Wind and Rain

February 13th

Today has been one of those days that just confirms for me why February is one of the more miserable months of the year in Virginia (dear Aquarian friends' birthdays not withstanding).

How is it possible to wake up to below freezing temps and....rain? The farm road is full of mud puddles, our "parking area" is mud and tonight the wind is howling around the cottage and leaking in through the cracks. I do feel a draught!

While the weather rages on, I've been preparing/prepping a Valentines Day Feast: Wild Mushroom Lasagna, sauteed mustard greens with balsamic vinegar, and brownies with raspberries and vanilla ice cream. The lasagna is divine, although not much to look at until it comes out of the oven tomorrow night, golden brown and sprinkled with fresh parsely and basil. The rest is experimental, but I feel quite sure I can at least pull off the brownies.

Dearest blog lurkers, what are your plants for Valentines Day?

Not too excited about Valentine's day this year...basically because of the lack of funds to do anything worth talking about. Got Gregg a new pair of snowboard boots (which wiped out the funds)...was thinking about making duck (!)...but that lasagna looks really good. Maybe I'll do the standby and get some fresh salmon. Whew...

Been applying for different jobs here, we'll see what happens. Been snowy here, lots of tele turns. Wish you could be making some of these turns with me!

Amy & I are going out to play with little Elijah so his mom & dad can get some boxes packed. A rockin' romantic Valentine's for all involved! Ahhh, the life of a single girl....
